ACHRONIES, UCHRONIES AND FRACTAL NARRATIVES (- talk in French)
Dora García will present uchronia as a common strategy in speculative fiction, an exercise in political imagination that envisages alternative timelines or hypothetical scenarios. She will then explore achronia, which does not represent an absence of time, but rather its excess. Dora García will reflect on how this idea suggests a different model for the future: not an ideal place elsewhere, but a simultaneity of pasts and futures converging in the present. The third concept, fractal narrative, will be approached as a form of storytelling inspired by fractal geometry, infinitely iterative, paradoxically finite and infinite.
Artist and researcher born in Valladolid (Spain). She lives, works and teaches in Oslo. She represented Spain at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011 and 2013.
